Village Roast Duck, The Gardens Mid Valley

Sunday, July 24, 2016

I'm probably not the best person to advise the latest food joints or restaurants that opened its doors at Mid Valley area because I don't hang out there as often as I used to. But when I bumped into one that is pretty good, I need to share it to the world even if I'm not the first one (probably not the last) to write about it.

Village Duck is a restaurant situated on LG at The Gardens Mall, and seems to be constantly bustling with crowd. We stepped into the premise & gave it a try since WL was craving for duck. The orders soon came quickly with the wantan mee first.

The char siew or also known as BBQ pork was so juicy & sumptuous. While the black sauce taste wasn't exactly my preference, I love the noodles' springy texture as it reminds me of Hong Kong style noodles. Although priced at a pretty steep RM18, the large serving compensates it.

WL's selection was a 1/4 portion of roasted duck accompanied with a bowl of white rice. At RM20+, the duck seemed expensive. Taking a bite made me change my mind - the meat was tender & the sauce was just right. Considering the location, it is common to be charged such price in order to profit.

We topped up additional wantan soup to supplement our mains. It's a pity that the wantan wasn't their best because the skin was slightly thick; the meat inside was dry & not mouthwatering. I have eaten better ones at a half the price.

Aside from the less favourable wantan, the overall experience was a satisfyingly good one. Village Roast Duck is definitely worth the next visit.
