Nara Kitchen & Co, Uptown Damansara

Sunday, November 20, 2016

It was time for an outing with my girlfriends after a long overdue plan. We finally managed to squeeze in our meet-up on a weekend, which we normally spend with our other half. The selected venue was Nara Kitchen & Co at Uptown Damansara.

Where exactly is Nara Kitchen & Co? It's not surprising to get lost as Uptown Damansara is literally surrounded with rows of shops from all directions. To put it simply, the cafe/restaurant is situated along the same row as Wondermilk; just couldn't remember if Nara Kitchen comes first or the other way.

The cafe/restaurant is housed on the 1st floor which probably makes it more difficult to locate, hence may relocate. I was the first to arrive & while waiting for my besties, I ordered a cup of mocha as a starter.

The cuppa was Insta-worthy but one sipful tells otherwise - coffee aroma was lacking, and I could mostly taste the bitterness of the cocoa powder only. Sadly, it wasn't a good start.

Upon my besties arrival, we picked our choice of brunch. We ordered a variety of dishes ranging from all-day breakfast, pastas to rice bowls - Gangnam Chicken Mantao, Kimchi Fried Rice & Grilled Prawns and Crispy Duck Aglio Olio.

The food looks great on the plating department, not to forget the cafe's fantastic light ambient adds flair to each appearance. While my pasta looked appetizing, it was too salty for my liking. Perhaps I have a picky taste bud whilst my friends seemed to be decently pleased with their orders. After all, it's indeed difficult to find delicious pastas in Malaysia; you know what most people say about the most simple dish is indeed the most difficult to achieve high level, exquisite taste.

Nara Kitchen & Co priced their food rather high, for me it's a little bit of 2-sided coin on the price worthiness. While the food & coffee are mediocre, you do get a beautiful soft lights & modernistic deco ala Scandinavian style which is on point for your girly selfies & snaps. It really depends on what you're looking for. I'm not sure if I'll make it for the next trip, but we'll see...Rating: 3.9 out of 5.
