Rocku Yakiniku

A friend of WL invited us join for dinner at Rocku Yakiniku, a newly opened restaurant branch at 1 Utama & invited us to join for dinner. We headed in a group of 7, took our seats & started ordering.

The restaurant serves all-you-can-eat dishes from the menu, for a fixed price per pax. While some are readily cooked dishes, some are raw ingredients to be cooked on a mini grill on each table.

Although I'm not a big fan of chargrilled food, the seafood were fresh & the meat cuts were marinated well. The biggest setback, in my opinion, is the less than pleasant dining experience. Why? The heat from the charcoal grill in front of you becomes unbearable within 30 minutes of cooking. Imagine having other grills fired up simultaneously in an enclosed air-conditioned environment - disastrous.

Moreover, the lighting was dim & I could barely see what was on my plate. Another demerit point on dining experience. For me, being able to dine comfortably is also an important factor for overall experience. The food was alright but not fantastically good; thus not even these brownie points are able to save a terribly poor environment & getting a decent score on overall experience.

Sadly, I'm not too keen to return for a 2nd dine-in. Rating: 3 out of 5
