Good signs

It's been two weeks since the day grandpa was admitted to the hospital for stroke. After numerous occasion of changing, moving in & out of different wards; he is finally being placed in a normal ward. And the good news is...he is showing signs of recovery.

I'm amazed at the rate he is recovering; considering his age. There are several things that he still can't do - speech, sitting up or opening his eyes, Nevertheless, we were all relieved & glad that he is now able to move his left arm & both his limbs.

Time is what grandpa needs to heal. Even the doctors are unsure to what extend he will recover. Due to his old age, he may not be able to fully heal & return back to normal ie stand & walk. For me, I only want him to stay healthy. I know that some day in the near future, he may no longer be around. But my final wish is to hope that he lives on...long enough to see me get married. Nothing more.

Dear grandpa, please get well soon!

Sudden attack

Thursday, January 21, 2010

The past few hours had been a rather horrifying experience to begin with. It was just another day as usual when I arrived home after a long day at work. With my shopping bags from Jusco, I clutched them & walked tiredly to my room. Everyone was immersed in their daily routine - watching TV, reading newspaper, sleeping etc. By 11pm, most of my family were already sound asleep. I went to bed early as I was pretty much exhausted.

A loud screaming had woke me up from my slumber. Feeling puzzled, I went to the source of the loud voice. To my horror, I saw grandpa lying stiffly on his bed while Dad & cousin bro was calling out his name loudly. His left part of the body was paralysed from head to toe; leaving his mouth wide open. His breathing was hard & had a loud cracking sound. Grandpa was partially unconscious & we knew that this ain't a good sign. We had to call the ambulance.

Upon contacting the ambulance, we were notified that they need 10 mins to arrive. We couldn't wait any longer & decided to rush grandpa to the hospital. Once in the emergency room, he continued to shake vigorously - his right arm extending stiffly towards us - asking for comfort & support. While a doctor & nurses treated him, we waited outside anxiously & I couldn't control the tears streaming down my cheeks. We thought he wouldn't have survived the ordeal in another 24 hours.

The X-ray scans showed that grandpa suffered internal bleeding in the brain; in laymen term - stroke. The doctor commented that his case is moderately severe & is to be sent to ICU for special attention. The whole family could hardly sleep a wink last night. Who could when such incident happened? We're only hoping for the best. Lets keep our fingers crossed...

Happy 2010!

Another year has gone by so quickly that it's time to usher a brand new year. This year's New Year's Eve was different for me cuz instead of staying at home, I was out celebrating with WL & his family. It was a gathering of two celebrations - birthday of WL's 2nd brother & welcoming of year 2010.

Food choices were kept to minimal to avoid wastage. And so we had a joyous eating session with buckets of KFC & fried mee hoon to whet our hungry appetites. I left after having a mini slice of the cheese cake; minutes before the clock struck 12am.

While on the way home, the traffic slowed down on the highway somewhere in Klang. Little did we expect that majority of the motorists pulled over to the side to watch...fireworks! Then only it dawned on us that it was already midnight. It's 2010~ Not wanting to miss the fun, WL parked the car & we both witness the fireworks lighting up from various location.

And we kissed.

What better way to celebrate new year with someone dearest to you? It was simply beautiful & definitely a night to remember. Indeed a good way to start a happy 2010!
